It was three years yesterday that my family lost our beloved Grandmother Bette. She was and always will be my inspiration; my hero. She taught me the basics, from how to write my name, to hitting the right note while singing. Grandma inspired me to always be involved in music, to dream and to give others your all when they are giving you less than dirt. She told me to stay strong when the going gets tough because God will always be right beside you through it all. She also would tell me that when she finally goes she’ll watch over her little China doll through whatever she may go through. I feel her with me, with everything note I sing, every step I take; she is right by my side cheering me on.
The last thing I heard her say was “See you later Alligator, I love you and be safe.” Just as she did every time we went our separate ways. I didn’t know those would be the last words we would exchange, but I wouldn’t change it any other way.
Sing loud angel. I miss you more than anything. Rest in peace. I love you.
Dream on dreamer.
